This is library patron service work supervising a large group of lower-level library assistants and clerical personnel in a variety of reader and/or library material processing services, which may include supervising the receiving, sorting, and dispensing of books and other library materials in a central bookstack. Scheduling, reviewing, and evaluating the work of subordinate staff and volunteers is important in the work as is resolving patron complaints and problems. Employees in this class report to a higher-level librarian.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR THE BILINGUAL SPECIALTY: Sufficient training and/or experience to be able to understand and speak fluently and clearly in a designated foreign language.
